After Donald Trump attacked Judge Merchan's daughter amidst his upcoming hush money trail, saying that the judge hates him and is biased because his daughter is a senior executive at a Super Liberal Democrat PAC, the judge quickly moved to GAG Trump from attacking witnesses, prosecutors, court staff, family members and jurors and threatened him with criminal contempt.
A legal expert says Trump put a "target" not only on judge Merchan overseeing the criminal case in Manhattan but also on his daughter. "This is a rank effort at intimidating the judge by threatening his family. It merits a gag order but also serious pushback from GOP leadership."
In the event that Donald violates the gag order, Judge Merchan could move to hold Trump in contempt of court which could include punishment of fines or even jail time.
